PROJECTS:

Below are the current projects that are being sponsored by Manning's 85, Inc.

1. Replace Transformer:

A transformer is a device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductors — the transformer's coils or "windings". Except for air-core transformers, the conductors are commonly wound around a single iron-rich core, or around separate but magnetically-coupled cores. A varying current in the first or "primary" winding creates a varying magnetic field in the core (or cores) of the transformer. This varying magnetic field induces a varying electromotive force (EMF)or "voltage" in the "secondary" winding. This effect is called mutual induction

Currently, the transformer at the school is incapable of supporting the school's electrical needs. The School's electrical needs are running at capacity which prohibits expansion and growth. When the circuits become overloaded this creates a power outage which disrupts the operation of school activities and toilets become inoperable.

2. Window Installation and replacement for Block C:

Above are photos of classroom windows to be replaced on Block C. In the rainy seasons, many classes are unable to be held (or held with much disruption) due to rain blowing in the classrooms. When it’s dry and windy, classes are disrupted by excessive dust and debris, where the windows would have provided protection. Furthermore, this makes way for an unsafe environment for the students and teachers alike, particularly for those not on the ground floor.

3. Fence Replacement:

Currently students are not safe because of the broken fence thats found in various areas of the school compound, making it easy for the unsavoury and undesireables to walk onto the school compound to envoke criminal behaviour.

Status: The front fence is currently being installed. Marketing campaign is currently ongoing to raise funds to begin the fence for the back of the school.

4. Sports Revitalization:

Manning's School is a name that is associated with athletes. Producing some of the finest athletes to represent Jamaica. Today, the entire sports proram is in jeapordy because of insufficient funding. Let's bring back to glory to the sports program at Manning's.
